Santa Rosa Lake State Park

Santa Rosa, New Mexico has always been a great stop on for Camping Route66 New Mexico just after Tucumcari. A lot of the original road can be traveled between the two. Santa Rosa Lake State Park is an oasis in the high desert of New Mexico. Beautiful sunsets bring cold temperatures at night on most occasions so be prepared. The high desert is scorching hot during the day and can be very cold at night. This is rustic camping at its best so if you are up for an adventure, plan on spending a night here. The facilities are wonderful and there is something magical about camping in the "Land of Enchantment".

Blue Water Lake State Park

Blue Water Lake justifies its name and is stocked with Rainbow and Cut-throat trout for you fisherfolk. It is located about 30 miles west of Grants, New Mexico and is a great stop after spending a day browsing Old Town, Alburquerque. It has both primitive and modern campsites and once again, we need to remind you that this is high desert camping. Be sure to have warm bedding and clothing for night time activites.
